Thoughts from Psalm 25

To You and you alone I lift all the praise
let mercy flow down
on those who seek Your face

Victory upon victory to You I will sing
lead me by Your truth
and hide me in Your wings

Remember me Oh God, cover all my shame
for in Your great mercy
all my hope is placed

Find a willing servant following Your will
knowing You are God
by only being still

When Do You Worship?

I woke up this morning thinking about what I had to accomplish today, all the things that need to be done. Where do I start? How can I prioritize everything and make sure nothing is missed? As I sorted through these things it occurred to me that what my life really consists of is worship. Not the couple of hours on Sunday’s or even Wednesday nights, but what I do on a Tuesday morning or on Thursday afternoon, or when I am driving to work, or when I am completely alone. Every person ever born is a worshiper; it is how we were created and what we are created to do. Worship is not something we have to be taught; just like sin we are born with the natural capacity and bent towards these traits.

Our lives consist of worship; there is no doubt of that. It is the object of our worship that reveals our true condition. Jesus said, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” Matt. 6:21. Everything we do is tied to what we worship, what we consider worthy. Knowing this, what I have to accomplish today is first of all to worship my creator and the rest of my responsibilities will properly follow.

-What do I consider worthy of my attention?
-What is the most important thing in my life at any given time of the day?
-Where is the God of the universe in my conscience?

"Lord, God of heaven, help me today to worship You and You alone…be my treasure and strength."

It is finished...

Jesus, even while upon the cross, continued to do what he came to do. I can’t even begin to fathom the physical pain, much less the enormous grief of being left alone to bear the sin of the world. But He did something we could not do for ourselves and at the same time demonstrated what we should do…the Father’s will. Only the Son of God can make a way for us to approach the Lord without being consumed and in that same act of unparalleled redemption, still teach us how to live. Knowing the time had come; he said, “I thirst” and fulfilled the Father’s will and the prophecy in Psalm 69:21. Then, as if he were closing the door of suffering forever he said, “ It is finished” and at that moment all the children of God were redeemed forever. His suffering is finished as he sits at the right hand of the Majesty on high interceding for us and leaving his example to do the Father’s will so that one day we can say, “it is finished” and enter the eternal joy of His rest.

Grace and peace to you this Easter.

Hope to see you!

Good Morning everybody! For the next few days we will have a booth at Pastor's Conference at First Baptist Church in Jacksonville. If you are going to be there, come look for us and say hello!!

Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs

Eph. 5:18 "And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ"

It is interesting to think about what Paul is saying here. After the command to be filled with the Spirit we are exhorted to speak to one another in songs. What is it to speak to each other in psalms and hymns and to make melody in our heart to the Lord? At first look it seems kind of strange. If you went around reciting psalms and hymns to everyone at church they would begin to wonder about your sanity. I mean your asked, "How are you today?" and you reply, "Bless the Lord O my soul and all that is within me!" Well, maybe that's not so strange after all. "Did you have a good week?" and you reply, "On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand." But I think it's more than quoting psalms or reciting a hymn. It's creating praise to the Lord from a joyful heart. Just like any song ever written, it's comes out of our emotions. The joy that is possible in the life of a believer contains the emotional reaction to generate praise to God in song. Like when we become overjoyed in a moment about something, the reaction of joyful people is to sing. And we sing about what it is that has brought the joy. We tend to want to tell others what we are excited about, so meditating on the goodness of God in our lives and His word will produce singing in our hearts to the Lord as well as spill over into our speech. So go ahead and SING, and let everyone know how good God has been to you.

Prince of Peace

When Jesus was born one of the things they called Him was Prince of Peace. The word peace is also mentioned and spoken of over 20 times in the New Testament alone. One of the Fruit of the Spirit is peace. Seems like having peace is important to the Lord. If you have Him living inside you He gives you complete peace - the kind that passes understanding. Let's remember this Christmas season and all year round that Christians are to exhibit peace, not stress, not worry but peace. If you are stressed out by all the business and hustle and bustle, slow down! Not just now but for the new year. You don't need to be involved in everything. You need to be at peace. If you feel you are carrying a heavy burden maybe it's not for you to carry. His burden is light. Give His peace a try and have a stress free season. If we can do that we can concentrate on the true reason for Christmas!
For a child is born to us,a son is given to us.The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called:Wonderful Counselor, [ Or Wonderful, Counselor.] Mighty God,Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6

Holy One Of Glory (A New Song and Video)

We have a new song that David and Kara started working on some time ago. Danny, Grant, and Dustin have finally had a chance to put there fingerprints on it. We brought it before the church a couple of weeks ago at which time it was captured on video as well. To see the video and hear the new song, use the link below.
